Could Tenderness And Headaches After A Head Injury Be A Sign Of Something Serious?

While cleaning at work I was walking along & hit the top of my head on a metal object.

The spot that was hit is tender to the touch & I have had a 'headache' now for a few

days. No nausea...but not feeling so great either.

Thank you for any help or suggestions.

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that it is common to have such symptoms after a head concussion.

I recommend have some rest and avoiding possible repeated head trauma, which could lead to further aggravation of your situation.

I would also advise taking acetaminophen or ibuprofen for the pain.

If your symptoms worsen in the next days (worsened headache, confusion, somnolence, nausea, etc.), I recommend going to the ER for a head CT scan to exclude possible delayed intracranial hemorrhage.

Hope to have been helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Aida
