You may be suffering from maxillary sinusitis with eustachian tube block. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Use water vapour inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.

Use tablet montelukast and Levocetirizine once a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Hi, I have recently had a cold and have ended up with an ear infection, i am now taking amoxycillin however I was wondering if i could still take my cold and flu tablets as they are a decongestant and feel that they may not only help my blocked nose but possibly my ear as well. I have taken one tablet of the amozycillin as recommended and due to take another however, the stuffiness and pain in my ear has not stopped since last night even after taking the antibiotics. What is the best thing to do, take the cold and flu tablets(which are non drowsy however do have codine in them) and the antibiotics or just take the antibiotics?

Hello. My son has had ear infection for 7 days. We saw a doctor two days ago. He was given 875mg augmentin. Today he is in severe pain. No pain meds are relieving his pain. We have tried the Vicks vapor rub around the outside of the ear and it is not helping. My boy is 17 years old and also has mild aspergers so the pain is amplified. What can I do to help him. Should I take him to ER?

I had an acd with fusion performed in oct 2010, whilst recovering from this I started to have an ear problem. sudden deafness associated with a feeling of disorentation and feeling sick. after antibiotics nasal sprays etc I was sent to an ent consultant had the routine ear examination and hearing test. also an mri all was clear except for some mild hearing loss. I have continued to have intermittent problems ie buzzing blocked feeling fluttering and somtimes a dull ache, i was sent to a neuro consultant and all neuro test was neg. however he did say that he thought i had poss caught a post op virus labryrinthitis which caused my ear problem and slight balnce problem. I am 6 months down the line but I still have problems will this ever get any better.

Hello, I am 25-year-old female. Six days ago I swam to the bottom of a lake headfirst (probably only about 12-15 feet) and just as soon as I reached the bottom, I heard my right ear pop. When I surfaced I felt very disoriented, as if I were sideways when I was upright. Unwisely I then poured alcohol/peroxide mixture into my ear which cause immediate and severe pain. My hearing has been off in both ears since then. I saw a doctor in an urgent care office the day after it happened and he only prescribed me an antibiotic after looking at my ear and concluding that my eardrum was really red but that he did not see a hole. I am worried that I may be experiencing permanent hearing loss. Any suggestions other than just going to see an ENT?
