Could Severe Gastro Intestinal And IBS Be Due To Bisoprolol?

Hi... I have been taking Bisoprolol 2.5mg since April for occasional BP spikes (no other cardiac issues). Maybe its a coincdience but also since then I have exoerienced GI issues to the point where different gp has diagnosed IBS. I m 63. What it the likelihood that ome caused the other?

Thanks for your query.
Noted your history about you taking Bisoprolol for occasional BP spikes, without any other cardiac issues; started getting IBS like symptoms since that time coincidentally.
Bisoprolol causing IBS like symptoms is not known.
It is possible that since you have no cardiac issues other than occasional BP spikes and developed IBS like symptoms same, it is stress and/or anxiety causing both the problems that you have.
For one to say the diagnosis to be IBS all the relevant tests of GI system must be negative or normal, namely tests of blood, urine, stool, ultrasonography of abdomen and colonoscopy and if needed a CT scan .
Please get all these tests done under the guidance of a Gastroenterologist.
IF something specific is found get it treated.
If all the tests are negative get IBS treated.
No stress and/or anxiety is the basic of such a treatment.
