Could Rashes On Ankles Be Due To Intake Of Ampicillin?

Hi Doctor, I am taking Ampicillian for a possible infection in a dental implant. I have been taking the medication for about 3 days and tonight I found a rash on my ankles. So, should I call my family doctor or try a topical medication for the rash?
Thank You!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, i do care for your concern.
Ampicillin is one the most common drugs to cause allergic reactions.
But these reactions are caused immediately following administration of the drug.
Hence administration of topical steroid cream would help you a lot.
However if the rash persist or it increase in size, then its highly advisable to consult your physician and get antibiotic changed.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
