Could Rapid Heart Rate Be Due To Stress?

Yesterday I was sitting on the couch and all of a sudden my heart beat sped up, not like fear but fast and heavy beats. I couldn t breathe and right when I started to panic, it went back to normal. Could it be something wrong with my heart or maybe from extra stress? I am 26 and female.
