Could Perineural Cyst Be The Cause For Severe Pain In Arm And Shoulder?

Hi. I had a C5-6 fusion in early January. I have had worsening pain in my right upper arm and shoulder area and had an MRI yesterday. There is a perineural cyst at the c5-6 neural foramina. Also, it could be a small cystic schwannoma. My pain had gotten very severe over the past 2 weeks, worsening each day. there is some uncinate hypertrophy also causing neural foraminal stenosis. I am wondering if the cyst is what is the cause of the worsening pain that is nearly unbearable at times?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi
if your pain is near shoulder extending to outer arm and forearm and thumb, as this region is supplied by C5 and C6 nerves moreover weakness in shoulder and elbow movement could also occur.
if your pain is not in this distribution than the cause could be something else also.
i feel your spine surgeon is the best person to assess your symptoms and give you a proper treatment.
hope that helps
thanks
