Could Peeling Skin On Roof Of Mouth After Eating Dark Chocolate Be Allergic Reaction?

The roof of my mouth peels when I eat certain brands of dark chocolate. It is similar to the peeling that occurs when you burn the roof of your mouth only there is no pain and it peels immediately. Can this be an allergic reaction to something in the chocolate? It is related to specifically Dove dark chocolate pieces and Whitman's dark chocolate pieces.

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain peeling of the roof of the mouth by eating dark chocolate is probably due to allergic reaction to dark chocolate only..

It can lead to peeling of the mucosa and as it is due to certain brands there can be any preservative or any other ingredient added to it that might be causing allergic reaction..

I would suggest you to avoid eating specific brands of dark chocolates and eat only specific brands that does not cause peeling of mucosa..

You can also consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and investigations like Blood tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
