Could Pain In Chest Be A Symptom Of Heart Attack?

I recently had an EKG done as I had complained to my family doctor a feeling of weakness off and on. The EKG showed that I have had a heart attack in the past (probably within the last 6-7 years. Also, on reviewing EKGs done in the past (2003, 2007 and 2009) apparently they showed something not normal, however the most noticeable change appears to have occurred between 2007 and 2009. I was utterly shocked with this as it is the first I have heard of any problem with my heart. I have, however, had what I ll describe as discomfort in my chest which I felt was due to having had a hiatal hernia repair 25 - 30 years ago. I feel that I never quite recoved from that surgery and have been told the wrap was extremely tight. I also started and discontinued to take the drug Fosamax in 2009. I had chest pain at that time (hence discontinuing the medication), but I really thought that pain was esophageal in nature and not cardiac. What are your thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello sir, any chest pain has to be ruled out cardiac cause. so an EKG has to be taken.
If u have previous history of heart attack the old EKG has to be compared with the new one. based on the presence or absence of new evidence of myocardial infarction the interventions may be decided.
Fosamax cause pain in chest due to esophageal strictures. hence the pain might be mostly due to it during 2009. its would have been better if you consulted your doctor before discontinuing the drug.
