Could Pain Between Thumb And Index Finger Post An Injury Be Sprain?

Hi! Today I hurt my hand at dance practice I don t know how I did it but I did. At first I could hardly move my hand or fingers so I wrapped up and put some heat on it. I took a nap and I woke up to checked on my hand. I took the wrapped off my hand and try to move my hand and fingers. It was ok until I start to move my fingers more and pick up things, it hurts in between my thumb and index finger all the way through the palm of my hand. If I move my fingers will kind of hurt. My mom thinks I sprained it. So what did I do to my hand?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
You have got blunt trauma to your hand that can be sprain or even minor fracture. You need to go for Xray of involved hand anteroposterior and lateral views to rule out bony abnormalities. If it's normal diagnosis is sprain. You need to apply crepe bandage for a week and take tab ibuprofen 400mg thrice a day for 5 days. If Xray report shows fracture need to consult expert orthopaedic surgeon nearby you. All the best.
