I am 63 years old, have had a swollen & red meatus for the last year and have had it looked at by a urologist several times and even had a cystoscopy twice in the past year. The first time he gave me hormone replacement cream to put on twice daily. It did not help. I have had several UTIs in the past year but often when I feel I have one, the tests come back negative. I had another cystoscope several weeks ago, he found that the urethra was normal so recommended Betamethasone.1% cortisone cream to apply 2 x day. I have been doing this and there has been no change. I also want to mention that I have herpes and had an outbreak this past week close to my anus so obviously my immune system is down. I take Valtex / Zoverax cream. So is the herpes playing a role in this swollen Meatus? And if not, what do you recommend? Thank you.
