Could my husband have a drinking problem?

First, I want to say that I come from a family that very seldom ever drinks, so I almost never drink alcohol. My husband and I are 31 years old. We have been together for a total of 3 years/ married for 14 months. He always liked to party with the boys, but I feel that he is drinking a little bit too much. Not only is he 31 years old and needs to grow up... he also is getting pretty wasted at least once a week. Because he is getting so drunk when he goes out once a week with his friends, I have been a little harder on him when he wants a beer at home. I worry that he could have the start of a problem. He drinks 3-4 beers per day, at least 3 times a week on top of the total drunkenness twice a month. Do you think this is normal? My biggest concern is that he is now hiding beers from me. I found them recently and I don't know if he is hiding them because he "needs" to drink them or because he doesn't want to hear me question him. I may sound like a nagging wife, but his father and grandfather were alcoholics and I have been through a lot of crap with my husband in the past with drinking too much and staying out at all hours of the night, so please try and understand where I am coming from. Do you think my husband has an actual drinking problem? Thank you!

Just wondering why my husband smells so bad after drinking. Not just a beer smell, but some kind of smell that comes from his pores. Our entire bedrooms smells bad in the morning after he s been drinking. I know this sounds like an odd question, but could this have anything to do his liver not being able to process the amounts of alcohol he s drinking? Thanks

I usually drink 3 1.5 oz. drinks of vodka a day, for months. I am 43 y.o., 170 lbs., never had an abnormal liver panel (test). I have not drunk anything in the past 12 hours. If I obstain from drinking any alcohol from now on, can I safely take 900 mg. of tylenol divided into 3 doses per 24h., 2700 mg. total per 24h? 9 tylenol 3's per 24 hours?

Hi Dr,

I recently had several blood tests and was informed today of the results which i am a bit worried about. The doctor said i have a high Gamma GT presence in my liver and that i must return in 3 months for further blood tests. When researching online about Gamma GT i found that it is highly related to alcohol but i am a 47 year old female who has never drunk alcohol before.

I would very much appreciate if you could shed some light on what this actually is, why i may have it and what course of action i should take or that is recommended for me to take.

Thank you very much for your time,

I look forward to your response,

Kind Regards

Sir, can you tell me why I feel this tightness, discomfort and bulging at the front side of my upper stomach just below ribs in the centre? It is related to alcohol, but the feeling is after the intoxication is gone, while I'm not drunk. It feels very hot when I touch that area and my breath is hot too. Before at rare occasions when too over-drunk I noticed bit of blood in my stool and today I threw up all that I drank and noticed it is mixed with blood, dark red. Could you please advice me.
