Could Muscle And Joints Pain Be Treated With Synthroid In A Borderline Hypothyroidism Patient?

Hi I have been taking synthroid for about one month and my muscles and joints feel as if they are not oiled and very aching. I am 57. I am borderline hypothyroid and am questioning if this drugs side effects will eventually ease as I had no symptoms prior that were casuing me issues.

Hi Dear,

Hypothyroidism does cause aches and pains etc. However, it is unusual for levothyroxine to cause this. At your age, i would also think in terms of Vitamin D deficiency and arthritis etc. Sun exposure might help and please meet your GP who can examiine you and find out if the pains are originting from Joints or muscles. Accordingly, we can plan for further investgations and treatment.
