Could Missing A Pill Of Birth Control Cause Spotting And Bleeding With Cramps?

Hello, I am a twenty year old female that has been on birth control for about 4 years. There is no way I am pregnant. I got my new pack a few days late and had to go about three days without taking them at the end of my pack. About six nights ago I accidentally forgot to take my pill and took it the next morning. A day after that I started lightly spotting, accompanied by some cramps. The next day it got worse, constant cramps with a flow almost as heavy as my normal periods (which is moderately light). So I ve been spotting/bleeding accompanied by cramps for about four days now. Would this be caused by the missing of the pill? I ve missed pills before and never have spotted. When should I go to the doctor?

Hi,

Yes, that can happen. But still if it persists you should get a OBGYN consultation and get an examination to rule out any complications.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
