Could Lump On The Earlobe Be A Matter Of Concern?

My daughter s ear lobes have started to swell up with what feels like a very large pea under the skin. It is at the part where the lobe connects to the head. She does have pierced ears but it s not around the piercing. There is no redness, no fever, and not warm to the touch. No signs of infection on the skin except pain. Do we need to see a Dr? Do we need to take the earrings out? What could it be? thank you!
