Could Itchy, Red, Swollen Area Of Skin Around Left Eyebrow Be Shingles?

Hi - I ve had a red swollen area of skin from my left eyebrow and above (about an inch) for the last 4 weeks. I woke up one morning with it, along with swollen glands around my ears (front and back) and shooting pains across my left forehead. The red area was itchy and a little painful. The second week the area looked angry red and formed scabs. The scabs are gone, but the area is still slightly swollen, red and itchy. The places where the scabs were are now indented! I thought it might be shingles, but the area never blistered. Any ideas? (I have pictures.....)

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the shingles is reactivation of silent virus in the ganglion of the draining region.

* The itchy, red, swollen are of skin around eyebrow indicates inflammatory lesion as bacterial or fungal origin rather than shingles only.

* If you can share your saved photo images during the follow up chat, I can still guide you in my best possible clinical perspectives.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
