Could Intake Of Augmentin Cause Severe Itching All Over Body?
I WAS ON AUGMENTIN FOR A WEEK, TWICE A DAY, FOR SINUS AND EAR INFECTION. THE LAST PILL I TOOK WAS ON APRIL 19. STARTING THIS WEEK I STARTED ITCHING AT RANDOM PLACES AND BY FRIDAY I COULD NOT STOP SCRATCHING, RED SKIN, BRUIZES FROM SCRATCHING. BY THE TIME I GOT TO A MINUTE CLINIC, WHERE I WAS GIVEN THE AUGMENTIN, MY ARMS WERE RED, LEGS WERE RED, EVEN MY HEAD ITHCHED! THEY SAID IT WAS NOT FROM THE AUGMENTIN. BUT I READ ABOUT THIS AND I THINK IT WAS. THEY PUT ME ON PREDNISONE, 54 PILLS, AND SENT ME HOME WITH AVEENO BODY WASH. I HAVE USED IT 3 TIMES YESTERDAY AND 2 TIMES TODAY. IT IS GETTING BETTER. I AM JUST CURIOUS AS TO WHY IT WAS ALLEDGEDLY NOT FROM THE AUGMENTIN???? DOES THIS MEAN I CANNOT TAKE THAT AGAIN? THANKS

If the itching occurred within a few days of taking the augmentin (within 2to 5 days), then it is possible that it is related to this medication.It would lbe a possible allergic reaction to the medication and you should not use it again.
You would be noted to be allergic to penicillin and should not use any meds with penicillin (there are different types)
If the rash occurred after this time frame, then it is not likely related to this medication.
Allergic reactions can occur to food, drink, pollen, animal dander, smoke and other scents, cleaning chemicals.
