Could Intake Of Co-codamol Cause Delayed Periods?

Hi, I m 25 and have regular periods. My last started on the 26th october and this past week i ave had my usual symptoms like i was about to start my period (increased appetite and slightly bigger breasts with sensitive nipples) but have not started yet. I haven t yet taken a pregnancy test but i use condoms and think there is little chance i could be pregnant. I have been taking co-codamol prescribed by a doctor last week for carpal tunnel. i stopped taking it the day before yesterday I am wondering if that could be making me later than normal? 30mg/500mg at first 2 tablets 4x a day but managed to get down to just 2 a day by the end of the week. Am I worrying for nothing?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. The codeine content in the combination you have been prescribed has been studied for the possible delay in periods but no association has so far been proved. The more likely cause for the delay in your menstrual cycle is the pain itself, as any stress can disturb the cycle. Also, since you are at considerable risk for pregnancy, please go ahead with a pregnancy test, either a home pregnancy test or an estimation of the serum beta-hCG titres. If nothing happens, please see a specialist for further evaluation. Hope this helps.
