Could Hard Painful Swollen Lymph Node Under Jaw Be Related To HIV?

Hi doctor.

I have a hard swollen lymph node under my jaw. Its hard and painful when I touch I, on that same side I have a painless growing wisdom tooth, which has been growing for almost a year now. I'm also on my 7th week past a possible exposure- low risk. I would like to ask if this in anyway is related to HIV infection? I haven't had any fever or any other signs or symptoms, no painful neck what so ever but my ear does feel blocked on some days.
Reason why I'm asking without testing is because I'm waiting til its 12 weeks so I can conclusive results. What are the chances that it may be Anxiety, HIV infection or some other infection?

HIV AIDS Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

Painful lymph node under the jaw is one of the commonest manifestation that can occur to anybody with or without HIV.Anyhow it is in no way specific to HIV.
Infection of gums, root of teeth, any mouth ulcers may follow with painful lymph node enlargement under the jaw. Even the growing wisdom tooth also may be a reason. So nothing to worry about. As you said, rule out HIV with a blood test after 12 weeks. Now you are going in a right direction.
