Could Hairloss And Itchy Scalp Be Due To Trying New Hair Colour?

OVER THE PAST MONTH MY SCALP HAS BEEN VERY ITCHY,AND IM LOSING QUITE A BIT OF HAIR. THERE ARE NO BUMPS, BUT I AM SLIGHTLY PINK, IT SEEMED THAT THIS ALL STARTED AFTER TRYING A NEW HAIR COLOR (BURGUNDY). IVE BEEN TRYING DIFFERENT SHAMPOOS (HEAD AND SHOULDER, SELSUN BLUE, NOW ONE WITH PEPPERMINT AND TEA TREE OIL) I AM AT A COMPLETE LOSS FOR WHAT TO DO.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

You could be having Allergic contact dermatitis to hair color OR it could also be Seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp.

If i was your treating doctor i would have asked you to use a Ketoconazole based shampoo thrice weekly.

I usually recommend a topical potent steroid lotion twice daily (on the scalp skin) for my patients of Allergic contact dermatitis to Hair dye. It usually takes a week to be alright.

An OTC antihistamine like cetrizine once daily would help you deal with the itch.

take care
regards
