Could Frequent Visits To The Washroom Be Due To Dementia In A 88 Year Old?

my mom is in a nursing home. she's almost 88 and suffers from dementia. i'm guessing it's alzheimers. her memory is gone. she's had three urinary tract infections in the last month and her dementia gets worse each time. she's on a diuretic because of swollen ankles, prednisone and methotrexate for polymalyalgia. she also takes blood pressure meds and anti anxiety meds. she shows symptoms of OCD. here's my question: she constantly asks to go to the bathroom, almost every 5 minutes (one day, 16 times in 3 hours). do you think this is because of the dementia? any suggestions to helping her not feel the need to go all the time? she gets upset if she's not attended to right away and they simply don't have the staff to wait on her. thanks.

dear,
frequent urination is common problem in demetias, it is due to loss of control over bladder activity.
Dementia is not just a problem of memory loss its a condition in which the neurons of brain they die prematurely, the causes could multiple.
the neurons that control bladder functions they die, as a result of which the patient is not able to control his urine.
Continuation of the dementia treatment is the only way ahead.
Supportive care such as catheterisation may be needed in extreme dysfunction.

hope to have satisfied your query.
thank you. stay healthy
