Hi there. So the other day I was at a party and one of my friends had a cold sore...I didn t notice it at first so I gave her my usual hug and we may have shared a light cheek kiss, also I may have let her drink some of my water that evening, but I also let other people drink my water throughout the evening. I wasn t sharing with everyone but if people ask for water because they re thirsty, I usually give them some, and I refilled my water throughout the night. A few days later I am now sick with a fever and chills, sore throat(hurts when I swallow and my glands are swollen) coughing up mucous and congestion, and a bad headache. Once I found out that she had a cold sore I got worried because I looked up symptoms and the ones I m having now are early symptoms of Herpes 1 and I m pretty scared. I ve been sick for a couple days now and so far no cold sores or blisters have shown and my mouth doesn t feel itchy or burning, but regardless I m still a bit worried. Is it possible that it could be herpes 1 or is it just some bacterial or other viral infection like the flu or bronchitis? I don t believe I had direct contact with the cold sore and people have been sick around this time of year so it could have been just the passing of common sick germs. Is this something of concern? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
