Could Fever And Swelling Of Left Nose Be Due To HIV Infection?

hi, i am a 23 year old and had sex with someone and i believe he pre ejaculated then we used protection but now i dont know his status but tested a couple of days later and i know that by then it wont show. It s been 4 weeks since it happened and during that cause of 4 weeks i v had hay fever not hectic just the swelling on my left nose or right sometimes, could this be a symptom of hiv infection. I have never had a pollen allergic reaction before unless if it went un noticeable but when entering spring - summer i do get irritated from the smell of blooming flowers when i m near them that s all i dont get sick or anything bad but just not being able to handle the smell

No your symptoms of fever and swelling of left nose is not at all due to hiv. hiv does not produce these symptoms moreover hiv symptoms not manifest in such short duration. so consult phsician for your symptoms its not due to hiv. and other thing is that it not due to hiv does not mean you are safe and dont have hiv. so go through hiv testing once after a month of exposure. and make sure regarding your status. go for confirmatory test like p24 or pcr

HIV AIDS Specialist Dr. Matin Ahmad Khan's  Response
HIV can't be judged by symptoms as it too causes some very general symptoms like fever , swollen neck , diarrhoea , rashes etc. It can be confirmed only by blood tests You did not mention your sex -male or female and the type of the sex you were engaged with like anal/oral/vaginal, because they all modalities different risks of acquiring HIV . So my advice - get your self tested at nearest Govt. health facility (ICTC -integrated Counselling and Testing Centre) where you will be tested with your consent and counselled . This way you may learn your status and correct knowledge about HIV and how it spreads, how does not . I hope this helps to put your mind at ease and move forward from this situation. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions or concerns. Thanks
