Could Epigastritis And High SGOT Be Related To Gall Bladder?
I am 47, 5 foot 8 inches and today 139 lbs. I had a liver function test and it came back with a high sgot. I have been having epigastric/chest pain about a half hour after I eat something, are these related and might it have anything to do with the gallbladder?
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Yes, it may be related to gallbladder definitely since SGOT may be a marker of biliary stones and epigastric pain is one of the symptoms of biliary disorders including gallbladder stones and your symptoms are suggesting gallbladder or gastric issue.. It would be advisable to have ultrasound or HIDA scan done to verify your gallbladder motility and the presence of stones in it. ALso, it will show if liver and pancreas function are fine which are also possible causes of deranged SGOT levels. Also, stomach ulcer or GERD is th elast possible cause so endoscopy may be required or empirical treatment with antiacid medications.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
