Could Elevated Alkaline Phosphatase Be A Result Of Sickness?

I have been really sick with fevers for one week..went on an antibiotic for a week and then it went away..out of the blue I got one day of fever a week later and then it has been gone ever since. My Alkoline phosphatase was 169...can this be from me being sick?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a protein found in all body tissues. Tissues with higher amounts of ALP include the liver, bile ducts, and bone. Normal ALP levels in adults are approximately 20 to 140 IU/L so a level of 169 should not be make you worried. You may get it repeated again after 3 to 6 months and if it is considerably high then can get an ultrasound scan of abdomen for liver assessment done.
