Could Cortisone Injection Cause Blood In The Urine?
Hi Dr. My mom is 86 and had a cortisone injection in her wrist 3 weeks ago could this cause blood in her urine she does have chronic UTI but not signs of infection now. We are going to Urologist tomorrow but I am scared that it could be something serious
Hello Thanksfor query. Your 86 years old mother has passed blood in urine after intra articular Injection of Cartisone in wrist. A single dose of Cartisone can not be a cause of her passing blood in urine .
It is most likely to be due to either 1) Cystitis (Infection of Bladder) 2) Any mass lesion in bladder or urinary system. Please cnsult qualified Urologist and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis. 1) Urine Routine and Culture. 2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen 3) Blood Coagulation profile 4) Cystoscopy (If required)
