General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and welcome to HCM. Citalopram is an antidepressant medication that affects neurotransmitters.
Common side effects are
1.Inability to have an Erection
2.Sexual Problems
3.Problem with Ejaculation
4.Dry Mouth
5.Drowsiness
6.Chronic Trouble Sleeping
7.Excessive Sweating
8.Involuntary Quivering
9.Feel Like Throwing Up

As you can see, citalopram does not affect blood lipid levels. Your high cholesterol may be due to other reasons, but it can be brought under control. Avoid high fat and oil containing diet, do some physical exercise if possible and inform your doctor about this. All the best
