Could Bladder Pain And Discomfort Be The Side Effects Of Taking Belviq?

Bladder pain and discomfort. I started belviq one week ago. Starting last night I had bladder discomfort and a feeling of having a full bladder even after I've emptied it. Its quite uncomfortable. Is belviq the cause as a side effect and will it go away?

Hi and welcome to HCM. Belviq (lorcaserin) affects chemicals in the brain that affect appetite. Belviq is used together with diet and exercise to treat obesity. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Some side effects are

1.unusual thoughts or behavior, feelings of extreme happiness or sadness;

2.feelings of standing next to yourself or being outside of your body;
3.thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself;
4.agitation, hallucinations, fever, rapid heart rate, overactive reflexes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of coordination, fainting;
5.trouble breathing, slow heart rate;
6.feeling short of breath, even with mild exertion;
7.swelling in your hands or feet;
8.Painful erections

As u can see the above list, bladder problems are not common and you may be having some other problem related bladder and i suggest u to consult your treating doctor and inform him/her about this. All the best

Regards
Dr Santosh
