Could Abnormal Potassium, Sodium And Chlorine Levels Cause Chronic Fatigue?

I just received my results from a blood test and my K=7.6, also have sodium level of 129 and Chloride of 90 ---not to mention that my T4 is .72. This all sound interrelated and have been fatigued for months!!! Just had a blood test 3 weeks prior to this one and everything seems to be getting worse as far as my numbers---my K almost doubled in 3 weeks????

Hi,

Potassium levels can impact the heart and if your potassium was actually at this value then you would likely be experiencing heart effects. Potassium is sometimes falsely elevated if a sample is hemolysed (broken down) or old (sent to the lab late). Your doctor may consider checking to see if the value is accurate. The T4 level is low and low T4 can be associated with fatigue. You may need hormone replacement. Once started, the level would be repeated in 6 weeks to 3 months.

I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
