Could A Disappearing Foggy Line In The Pregnancy Test Indicate A Pregnancy?

Hi, I took a first response pregnancy test because I am late on my period. The first line showed up faint (which would have made two lines meaning pregnant) and then quickly disappeared, giving a negative for being pregnant.. is this common? could it just be a defective test? My doctors have told me it would possibly be difficult to get pregnant due to my health conditions and being on prescription medications and my cysts and a previous tubular pregnancy, but last time when I was pregnant and lost the baby, it was tubular and their were two foggy lines, where as this one, one line showed up foggy briefly, then disappeared?

Hallow Dear,

The first faint line disappearing quickly denotes that the kit was faulty, may be used after expiration date. The first line is a control line and should always be dark even if tested with plain water. Please repeat the test again.

You have a history of previous tubal (ectopic) pregnancy. So you have to be on the guard. Ectopic pregnancy does give rise to weak (faint) positive result of the pregnancy test.

If the repeat test shows weak positive test or positive test, get your ultrasonography done. With (faint) positive test if the uterus is empty, it suggests ectopic pregnancy while sac seen in the uterine cavity ensures the intrauterine implantation. Negative results of the test will confirm that you are not pregnant.

My conclusion is that the kit was faulty. So repeat the test; or go for Beta hCG test on the blood which is very sensitive and more reliable test to diagnose pregnancy.

I hope this helps you.
