Could Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome Be Related To Seizures In The Family?

My 18 yr old daughter was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome today after an EKG. She had a 1/2 long episode last night. Prior episodes have been short (less than 5 min.) Her birth mother has a history of heart issues & seizures and she had a 4 yr old sibling die following a seizure. Could all of this be related? Should her other siblings be checked for this abnormality?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the Wolf Parkinsonian White syndrome is genetic disorder with conduction defect in heart causing supraventricular tachycardia via abnormal conduction pathway.

However, it is not associated with family disorder of seizures which can be attributed to some other factors which may be genetic or non-genetic conditions as well.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
