Hi, my 11 year old, 85 lbs. daughter who has no drug allergies and has taken amoxicillin successfully in the past and has had the nasal mist flu vaccine in the past two months has had a severely sore throat and oral temp of 101.+ for 36 hours. I didn t take her to the Doc today hoping it was a virus but the symptoms persist. I have fresh amoxicillin 500mg capsules on hand and would like to begin treatment now and get her to her Doc for a strep test in the morning. Any reasons not to begin treatment? Ahh! Ok, I see now. Sorry, I thought this was a free/pro bono service. Should have known. I ll just use my best judgement given that I ve successfully raised my four daughters and know well what a trip to the MD with these symptoms will bring about. What ever happened to pro bono professionalism and compassion anyway? I guess it disappeared when big Pharma took over our medical systems and turned you guys into dispensing agents instead of family physicians with real human qualities instead of automatons.
