Could Aggrenox Be Replaced With Time Release Aspirin?

The Part D prescription drug p[lan that i currently have, has just informed me that 180 caps of Aggrenox cost approx $1,200.00. This seems absurd to me! Can I replace this med with time release aspirin? I realize that Dipridomole is an equal generic, yet I would rather just take time release over-the-counter aspirin.

Hello,

Welcome to HCM and thank you for the query.
Aggrenox is (aspirin/extended-release dipyridamole) 25 mg/200 mg capsules.
You can not replicate its pharmacodynamics exactly with extended release aspirin and dipyridamole. But for financial reasons if you want to take generics, you should take an equivalent amount of aspirin and dipyridamole.
Just aspirin alone will not have the effect of the combination.
If you have further queries, I am available.
Wish you good health
