Coughing With Blood. Have Vomiting. Took Amoxocillin. History Of Micoplasma Pneumonia. Treatment?

Very sick around 3 weeks to 4 weeks ago. Kaiser doctors said it was a common cold. but I was coughing so badly I was coughing up blood. I would also vomit because of the cough. I took Amoxocillin, it seemed to help. I was fine up until around 3 days ago. The cough came back, more around an hour or so after I woke up and would last 2-3 hours. So badly I'd nearly vomit again. This has been the case for a couple of weeks. Today I woke up and was coughing again. It was fairly bad, I vomited once. I was okay afterwards, worked a full workday. I went home and started to experience a very strange pain in my throat, much like the pain from the illness before, but this time it was lower in the throat. It hurts very much every time I swallow and during the day it's painful just to breathe. My medical history is simple, past 6 years of hypertension and when I was 8 I had micoplasma pneumonia which nearly took my life. I was hospitalized for over 30 days.

I'd like to get through this problem without major implications, is there a doctor out there who will hear me without the beat of the kaiser HMO drum in the background?

I'll go see anyone else if it means I don't die of pneumonia again (I coded three times during the micoplasma bout)

Thank you

James

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hi James,
Thanks for your query,
I went through your history and can feel your agony. Cough can have several cause starting from infection to allergy to possible cancers too. Pain can be due to cough itself or due to underlying disease.
I think you must go for a chest x-ray to localize the pathology and possibly to rule out other conditions. If it is inconclusive you may go for CT scan chest along with complete blood count and your sputum examination for TB bacilli, Gram's staining and culture sensitivity.
meet a nearby pulmonologist with the reports and get a possible definitive therapy.....

Best wishes
