Coughing Up Blood, Phlegm After Waking Up. Diagnosed As Acid Reflex. Is It Inflammation Of Esophagus Or Peptic Ulcer?
My husband is overweight weighs about 260 5'9' has been coughing up blood a little bit for the last several days. He has sleep apnea and has a machine but in the mornings when he gets up he has a little phlem and has to cough it up and that is where he has seen this bright blood, not a lot but concerning to me. He has been told he has some acid reflux. My question is does this sound like a peptic ulcer or just an inflammation of the esophogus (sp)?
Hello, In people who are overweight there are more chances of reflux when they sleep and so in the morning they feel sticking sensation , cough etc. You need to take proton pump inhibitors like esmoprazole with domperidom tablets in morning and evening take precautions---- Syp. antacid gel 2 tsf two times a day half an hour before meals multivitamin twice daily Keep head end of bed elevated. Avoid alcohol, Smoking Do brisk walking daily Go for walk after dinner Avoid spicy food Avoid late night coffee follow up after 7 days.
