Coughing, Blowing Out Mucus Balls, Bloody Nose, Chest Pains. Treatment?

Hi I am concerned, I keep coughing and blowing out mucus balls. I also have had nasal drip, bloody nose and chest pains, this has been an ongoing thing for well over a year, but when I spoke with PCP about it, he said the mucus balls shows possible infection, but to not show concern. It has never stopped and now I am experiencing other things and getting worried, chest pains, exhaustion and bloody nose blows at times?

Hello

Thanks for writing to H.C.M.

I read your query regarding coughing, blowing out mucous balls bloody nose and chest pains. You have problem for about last one year.

According to your symptoms it appears to be respiratory tract infection, though you have bloody nose and post nasal drip all these are in favour of sinusitis.

You are advice for these investigations-

(1) C.T. scan of paranasal sinuses.

(b) X-Ray chest ( P.A. view ).

(c) Culture and sensitivity of phlegm.

(d) Sputum for Afb.

(e) Blood for CBC, ESR, Blood sugar ( F & PP ).

Beside this a good ENT examination is necessary for clinical finding to co-relate above investigations for reaching to an appropriate diagnosis, that may be accordingly manage.

Regards.
