Pediatrician 's  Response
Cough at night is usually due to nasal block and post nasal discharge. You can use normal saline drops for a few days and watch the response. You can also try steam inhalation. It takes some time for cough to subside. If there is no fever and the child is active you need not worry. If cough persists for more than two weeks it is better to show the child again.

Pain Medicine & Palliative Care Specialist Dr. Kerry Pottinger's  Response
A dry cough at night can be a sign of asthma. i would suggest getting him checked again and possibly trying an inhaler at night to see if this may help.
