Cough, Shortness On Breath. Taking Flovent, Not Helping. Will Symbicort Help?

I have been using flovent 250 for over a year, recently I have noticed it is not controlling the coughing and I am getting short of breath, again. I ran our last week and my news will not be here for another week. My husband, a respiratory therapist, brought me a Symbicort 80/4.5 to help until mine arrive. Is there any reason this will not work?

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Since you haven't mentioned from how many years you are having asthma.
Fluticasone develops resistance ,that's why now not acting.
Now you are having Symbicort ( budesonide + formoterol) as budesonide is a corticosteroids and this is not good for chronic cases.
If asthma is more than 5-6 years and allergic asthmatic attacks 3-4 months in every year from last 4-5 years than this asthma may develop COPD.
Please consult a pulmonologist and get his opinion as self medication is dangerous for health.
Good luck.
