Cough, Mucus, Sore Throat, Shortness Of Breath, Chest Tightness. Taking Omnicef. Bronchitis?

Hi, I've had bronchitis symptoms now for about 2 weeks. Been on omnicef twice a day for 10 days. It started out mucus cough, fatigue, sore throat, shortness of breath, etc......a few days ago i felt like i was getting better then now I'm having some chest heaviness and shortness of breath along with a dry cough. Is that normal considering I've been on anti biotics and have had this 2 weeks! I'm stressing because of the chest tightness and heaviness!

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
If I were your treating doctor for this dry cough , I would come up with following possibilities , these includes.
1 Asthmatic allergic bronchitis , diagnosis can be confirmed by clinical as well physical examination by a physician . In such type of symptoms usually there develops , wheezing sound , dry cough , bronchoconstriction , running nose , breathlessness .
All these symptoms , you are having , so you may have asthmatic allergic bronchitis.
2 Tuberculosis , in the beginning there may be such type of symptoms , if allergy is associated with tuberculosis .
Diagnosis can be confirmed by chest X ray , Blood for E SR .
In my opinion first of all consult a physician and get his opinion ( 2nd) as in your case cefotaxim ( omnicef ) is ineffective , so consult at once.
Good luck. Dr. HET
