Hello and thanks for writing in
You surely needs a course of antibiotic to get rid form the fever and to get control over the infection (probably upper respiratory track infection). A proper and effective antibiotic which is capable to get control over the infection of URTI will help you. Ciprobid is now a days resistant to the bacteria. In my opinion get and consult your doctor who can prescribe you a better drugs. Meanwhile you can take paracetamol to reduce fever and Steam Inhalation to reduce congestion and cough.

Avoid intake of Cold water or drink, fried and oily food. Do luke warm gargles if you have sore throat.
Hope this will help you.

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
You are suffering from acute viral upper respiratory tract infection.
These viral infection has span of 3-4 days and symptoms may persist during these days.
Antibiotics is given to treat/ prevent secondary bacterial infection.
You should again consult with your treating doctor and should take cough suppressants along with the mentioned medicines.
You should also perform gargles with lukewarm water and a pinch of salts three times in day.
You should also avoid sour, curd, cold drinks and oily food.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

It is not a good idea to take antibiotics without doctor's prescription. Most fevers are viral in nature. Antibiotics are not indicated in viral illness.

Nimica is not used nowadays.... Please do not use it...

Take 1 tablet of febrex plus 3 times a day for 1 or 2 days.
Plenty of warm fluids to drink ( at least 8-10 glasses of water a day).
Steam inhalation 3 times a day.
Have 1 teaspoon of honey mixed with a pinch of freshly ground pepper powder. Might help soothe the cough.

Try the above measures for a day or two. If you feel there is no improvement, please take antibiotics under the guidance of your treating physician.

I hope I have answered your question. Please do get back to me if you have further queries.

Have a great day :)

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
