Cough, Feeling Of Lump In Throat, Dry Throat. Cure?

I have a cough for a couple of days and a dry throat and the feeling of a dry lump in my throat (not a physical/visible one). I have always had a gagging reflex but the coughing has worsened this. I have given up smoking 2 1/2 years now. I recently went to the dentist and my mouth is healthy but she did not check my throat. Regards Gail

Hello,
Welcome to health care magic .
A persistent cough does warrant a check . A cough like this can at times be caused due to an infection / allergy/ bronchitis .
Cough by itself can be caused due to various causes like I mentioned . Thus a chest X ray , blood work will help investigate this further . Please do discuss these options with your doctor .

hi gail
welcome to healthcaremagic

inspite of quitting smoke the thin covering of the bronchus, trachea and the lungs covering would be having some changes and it takes time for the reversal.
you should go in for a cough syrup for your bronchitis
