Consumed Toilet Cleaner. Vomitted. Suggested Antacids, Endoscopy. Block Near Esophagus. Need Medicine Or Surgery? Health In Future?
Hi Doctor, one of my friends consumed (Toilet Cleaner) accidentally. May be she gulped 2 times. She vomited in around 1-2 hours after drinking. We took her to hospital and the doctors suggested antacids and endoscopy on the same day and she was hospitalised for 13 days and she was suggested to in take liquids from an artificial tube in serted in her lower stomach and after 6 weeks she taken for 2nd endoscopy in that test it came to know that near the esophagus its blocked and the test tube could not entered up to stomuch so Please let me know it is possable to open by medicin or any surgery and if there is any potential harm to her health and body in future Thanks in advance

Your friend is suffering from esophagus narrowing due to a serious burn of it. Such burn causes an inflammation or even necrosis of the esophagus. It all depends how deep were the burn.
Some of such patients can recover fully, some will have eating problems and some wont be able to eat by theirs mouth ever.
However there is a lot of possible ways to treat such esophagus narrowing. She may have esophagus widening procedures, endoscopic esophageal stent insertion. Surgery is rather not possible in such case. The worst option is gastrostomy - artificial tube inserted to her stomach through the skin.
