Constant Headaches, Memory Problem. Is Something Serious?

My mom is 47 yrs old. I m worried about her memory problems and constant headaches . She usually cant remember things of past and sometimes even recent events. She says its as if certain things have just been deleted from her memory. She forgets where she kept her keys n other items frequently. Then there are the constant headaches which sometimes are severe n symptomatic of migraine . She had a CT scan done but it brought up nothing. Am i being paranoid or is it really a cause for worry??

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.

I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.

The common reasons for forgetfulness at age 45 are
1. Depression
2. Dementia
She should be assesed by a psychiatrist who can examine her for depression. Depression ver commonly presents with forgetfulness and can be treated very easily with meds.
The other possibility is dementia. There are good drugs for dementia as well like donepezil and memantin.

Hope I am able to answer your concerns.

If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
