Colonoscopy Showed Non Cancerous Polyps, Psa 4.3. Any Thoughts?

I had a colonoscopy on Nov. 20 with two non cancerous polyps found. I saw my Pcp on Dec. 2 which ran blood tests along with a psa. My psa came back as 4.3 and my doctor recommended a urologist. She further said that with a recent colonoscopy could have caused the increased level. She also mentioned with this false positives have been reported. I asked her about the colonoscopy and she suggested wait a month or they could schedule an appt with a urologist. My last psa 1.3 August of 2012. I am a 66 y/o white male b/d on Nov. 25.

Thanks for the query

It is unlikely that the colonoscopy has increased the level of the PSA. However PSA of upto 4 is considered normal. I do agree with her that false positive results do occur and it should always be repeated after 4 weeks. If it persists to be high than a biopsy maybe attempted based on clinical co relation.
Based on your age I also recommend to do a usg KUB and prostate to rule out prostatic hypertrophy which can also cause a marginal increase in PSA.
