Chronic Sinusitis, Frequent Cold And Sore Throats, No Respite With Azithral. Should I Take Something Else?

Hi, i have chronic sinusitis due to which i keep getting colds and sore throats with reular frequency. I am having a sore throat right now. Have been taking azithral for past 3 days but doesnt seem to be helping. Will taking Levoflox help or should i take something else? I have been to doctors earlier and they have told its due to the post nasal drip that i keep getting throat infections.

Hello Pushkar..

I have gone through your post in which you have mentioned that you have chronic sinusitis due to which you keep getting colds and sore throats with regular frequency.

The management consists of:

1. Drinking of warm fluids to reduce throat pain

2. Antihistamines to provide symptomatic relief from cold.

3. Analgesics to take care of pain & fever(if any)

4. If you are not getting relief from Azithral, you can use preparation of Co-amoxiclav (amoxicillin and clavulanic acid) like Augmentin 625 mg three times a day.

But it is always better to use antibiotics based on culture & sensitivity reports, instead of doing self medications.

So...it will be better to consult an ENT specialist & start treatment.

Meanwhile...avoid taking cold food & drinks, maintain adequate hydration & take soft, non-spicy foods.

There is no need to worry...you will be fine.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thanks & take care.
