Chronic Patchy Meningitis. Taking Methotrexate And Prednisone. MRI Shows Sarcoidosis. Affected With Shingles. What Is Sarcoidosis?

What is Sarcoidosis please? I have had chronic pachy meningitis for nearly 3 years...am on Methotrexate and Prednisone...had 12 MRI s. all this has been put down to Sarcoidosis. I then got Shingles 2.5 years ago in three nerves...aroundmy shoulder, breast, and right arm, hand and fingers, and have been left with severe PHN in my right hand and fingers since that time. I had second lot of Shingles 4 months ago, and the PHN has increased in intensity. I am on Oxycontin, Lyrica, Panadiene Forte etc etc but nothing helps. Could all of this be causing Sarcoid or is it the other way around?? Your help would be much appreciated.

Sarcoid is a multisystem disorder mainly involving the connective tissue present in various organs thus causing multiple symptoms pertaining to various systems affected.

It falls in the category of autoimmune disorder where one`s immune system starts recognising his own body as foreign and starts fighting. Methotrexate is being given to you to stop your immune system from causing inflammation in your tissues.

Shingles is a result of suppressed immunity where the Herpes virus which is generally present in someone`s body has become active. So shingles is a result of sarcoidosis and not the cause.
