Gastroenterologist 's  Response
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).

Chronic pancreatitis is irreversible process, one is treated when one is symptomatic. Treatment can be in form of medicines, endoscopic or surgical

What all he hast to do:
1. Small, frequent low fat diet
2. Avoid alcohol and smoking if he is taking
3.If pain then take analgesic like combination of tramadol and paracetamol (Ultracet)
4.Take multi-antioxidant
5. Normalise triglyceride levels by avoiding fat in diet, exercise and fibricacid derivatives
6. Check endocrine and exocrine insufficiency by getting blood sugars and stool fat and treat them if present by taking antidiabetic medicines and enzymes respectively

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
