Choking In Throat, Pain In Left Arm. Suffering Of Chronic Anxiety And Hypochondria. Any Ideas?

I have chronic anxiety and hypochondria. I have a sensation of choking in my throat and earlier I had pain in left arm. None of the pain is severe. It's been four hours and I have no more chest pain but i do still feel like I'm choking slightly. My blood pressure is normal. I've recently gotten a chest X-ray and worn a halter monitor. Have no problems and a clean bill of health. I am 28 years old.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.

I have gone through your history.
Sensation of chocking and unexplained pain are symptoms of anxiety and hyopchondria.
You should consult psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and management. Doctor may rule out physical causes like low hemoglobin or esophageal problems.

You may get benefit by anti anxiety drugs like lorazepam or clonazepam and antidepressants like duloxetine or desvenlafaxine.

Meanwhile you should do breathing exercise and yoga for better control over anxiety.

Thanks.
