Child With Vomiting, Diarrhoea And Abdominal Pain. ESR Level Elevated. What Could Be The Reason?

My 11 year old son has had vomiting , diarrhea and severe abdominal pains for the past week. Vomiting subsided after first tw days, but abdominal pains continue. He has had this a few times this past year. Blood results show normal values, except ESR is at 25 (normal: 0-10). Four weeks ago when he had previous pain, ESR was at 18. What could this mean?

ESR is a non specific investigation. it can be elevated in any inflammatory process. pertaining to your child, we have to rule out any infectious etiology, inflammatory conditions like crohns disease, irritable bowel syndrome. consult a pediatric gastero enterologist.
