Child underweight. How to increase the appetite and weight?

Hi doctor I am HARIKA mom of one old boy My son is born in US but was here for first 6 months then later I have sent him to India. Now we brought him back to US. We went for a regular checkup and the doctor said he is underweight . He is 8.5 kegs He eats very very less and drinks very less milk. Will hardly drinks water that too very forcefully. Please do help me how to increase his appetite and weight. What is the ideal weight in 13 months. He looks very thin but is active and walks with the support. Please do help me

8.5 kg is not a bad weight for a 13 mth old. 10 kg is ideal. But as long as he is otherwise healthy, dont you worry. Give him the food which you all eat at home. Can try putting a small spoon of oil or ghee in every meal of rice you give him. But rest normal diet is good enough. Im sure he will pick up his weight in few months. Take care.
