General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes is the most common finding of the small intestine disease in abdominal ultrasound. Lymph nodes gets enlarged due to inflammatory process. It can be intestines infection, appendicitis, inflammatory bowels disease, Yersinia infection and many more. So without knowing other symptoms like abdominal pain localization, diarrhea presence, fever presence it is very hard to determine which exactly condition is causing it.
I suggest you to visit gastroenterologist and have some diagnostics. Stool tests, blood work, CRP, urine analysis should be done at first. If the pain is located in the right lower abdomen, and doctors are not sure if it is appendicitis or not, abdomial CT should be done.

Hope this will help.
Regards.

General Surgeon Dr. Hari Charan Perigela's  Response
Hi
Mesentric lymphnodes may be enlarged in many infections like cold, bacterial infections etc.
As per standard text book of bailey and love of surgery,if pain abdomen is associated with mesentric lymphnodes,Appendicectomy will cure the condition in majority.
So,if she is not having any pain in the abdomen,no intervention is necessary.
Or else Appendicectomy has to be done
Wish her good health

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

The child needs a battery of investigations -
It could be a pathology (infection or otherwise) in the area of drainage - intestine...
It could be a part of wide spread Lymphoid tissue problem

Gastro-enterologist should be the first one to see.
If need be, medical oncologist may have to see...

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
